Rachelle Roper, Agricultural Director
A Florida native, grew up around agriculture and gardening. After graduating from UF with a degree in Animal Science in 2001, she turned her passion of growing food into a career of helping others. In 2010, she founded a non-profit called Feed The Need Garden and has spent the following years teaching people how to grow and preserve their own healthy food. She has established numerous gardens throughout the community in schools, daycares, assisted living facilities, homeless shelters, women and children’s housing, food pantries, food desert areas, prisons and more. Her mission is to give people a hand up rather than a hand out through education and hands on learning opportunities. So, becoming part of the SCC Agriculture Farm was a perfect fit in helping more families become self-sufficient in our community!
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
- Help maintain weeds around garden boxes and fruit trees.
- Help apply for grants and donations.
- Rebuild garden boxes.
- Help install underground water pipes to fruit trees and garden boxes.
- Bush hog cow pasture.
- Fertilize cow pasture.
- Build cows pens.
- Help mow grass and weedeater.
- Build hay storage shelter next to shipping container.
- Fence new pasture areas.

Second Chance Church agriculture farm exists to produce quality food resources for those in need in our community;
to educate families how to grow their own food; and to meet the spiritual needs of our community!
