Core Values
At Second Chance Church, we believe followers of Christ have been given a great commission … an assignment in the Kingdom of God. As Paul explained in 2 Corinthians 5:20, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
And though our assignment is to minister to the needs of our local community, we also have a desire to follow the instruction that Jesus gave His apostles – to go to the ends of the earth and preach the Gospel. We believe it is our responsibility as a local body of Christ to support and send those whom Christ has called into the harvest fields around the world … those who heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And they answered His call: “Here am I. Send me!” (Cf. Isaiah 6:8)
Our Supported Missionaries
Honoring the Father Ministries – Johnny Johnson
HTF reaches thousands with the Gospel of Jesus Christ each year. This is accomplished by following Christ’s example – meeting people at the point of their need. Whether through sports ministry, construction, feeding hungry children, or offering medical services, HTF reaches out with a loving hand that leads others to the Father through His Son.
Over the past 26 years, HTF has ministered to over 1,000,000 people in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru & Venezuela with hundreds of thousands making decisions for Christ! They assist Second Chance Church members with the opportunity to join others on short-term missions trips to these countries as well.
Pioneer Bible Translators – Denise Dickens
Pioneer Bible Translators® bridges the gap between the church and the Bibleless peoples around the world. Their team is composed of Bible translators, literacy evangelists, church planters and a variety of support personnel working to see transformed lives through God’s Word in every language. Pioneer Bible Translators is working in 28 countries in 108 languages that impact 102.5 million people.
Pioneer Bible Translators currently sends missionaries from Canada and the United States. Their International Service Center, located in Dallas, TX, is crucial in attaining its global ministry goals. From there, missionaries train and prepare for cross-cultural ministry.
Jesus To Muslims – Steven Masood
Jesus to Muslims was established to equip Christians in United States to share their joy of knowing Christ with Muslims. There are at least 12 million, and possibly up to 20 million, Muslims who have made this country their home. There are a lot of misunderstandings within both faiths, and their desire is to help train Christians to be able to confidently approach Muslims with the true message of Christ. Personal and friendly relationships open the door for discussion about spiritual issues and personal beliefs. The foremost duty of Christians is to show Muslims the love of Christ. It is the availability that matters and it all starts with sharing the love of Christ. Training local churches and its members have the best opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus.
Compassion International – Timothy Sullivan
Many Second Chance Church members advocate for children in poverty through Compassion International. This organization is committed to Jesus Christ in all that it does. Jesus is the core of their ministry and his life, teachings and character shape its programs, reflect the spiritual commitments of their staff, and guide how it demonstrates love for people, respects communities, and cooperates with nations. It is Christ-centered, church-driven and child-focused. That is what makes it distinct from other child sponsorship organizations, making it the world’s leading authority in holistic child development through sponsorship.
Annual Compassion Sunday – First Sunday in May Each Year.
